Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Redemption embargo on UA200 and below

Hi

I just spent half an hour on the phone with the Krisflyer *A partner redemption team.

First of, can I say that both times I rang them over the past week they have been immediate in answering the phone. Zero waiting time and very helpful. ^

EDIT: Arnold at SQ came through with the goods (albeit a high pressure phone call). It seems like if you ask nicely, they will contact UA directly and ignore the policy saying UA200 and below are embargoed. Any UA/CO flight can be booked using points.

The incredibly large surcharge on the other hand is another matter...

I managed to ticket a CO flight using SQ miles just last month. But it took SQ a week of "escalating" to do it. Just keep pushing them and they should figure it out.

..The problem is that they say they can not ticket the flights less than UA200 as they are operated by Continental. Does this sound right? I've spent hours working out my trip AND got through to SQ AND got the reservation, only to be told that they can't ticket.

They are trying to find an alternative, but it sounds crazy that before the merger I could book a Continental flight but not after..
It does indeed sound crazy. Seems to be an agent who confuses system difficulties with hard rules.

I'd call again, especially because for 3 weeks, there is no CO anymore.

A small follow up. I got a call from the same agent I spoke to (who I annoyingly didn't his name). He said he is still working on it and will have a solution by COB monday. I've checked and there is routing via ICN according to ANA tool, but I don't really like the idea of arriving at 4am in the morning..
