Typically when do upper class reward seats open up?

I don't believe Expert Flyer does award availability on Virgin Atlantic... If flying JFK-LHR on 6/28 (currently no seats are available) does anyone know how the availability would look like? Is it possible to purchase a premium economy seat for 27.5K miles and then once released pay 12.5K miles for an upper class seat?

There really is no set pattern as to when reward seats are made available. And even then they may be available only on some of the regular JFK-LHR flights and not all. It is a case of regular checking then booking there and then when you see one you like.

Yes it is possible to get a PE reward (miles + $$ for the VS fuel surcharge and the airport fees) then upgrade to UC if seats become available, Again it needs you to reglarly check for UC rewards then to pounce there and then.

Just keep looking and keep your fingers crossed.
