Air New Zealand Air Points - Just how bad is 777-200ER economy?

Tall person here. Mostly in the legs. :(

Aisle seat.

Is it 'wish for death', or not so bad?

6'2" here. NZ eco seats aren't too bad -- in fact, they're nicely padded with good support and are, from my 300k per annum experiences on multiple carriers, one of the best Y seats anywhere. seatguru can give you seat pitch details.

Add to that, on the 777-200ER, NZ use a 3-3-3 seat config in economy, which provides a little more width and comfort compared to many airlines 3-4-3 config on the 777 (including Air NZ on the 77W).

Well, that's a relief. :)

Seatguru gives the pitch as 31-33, and the airline reps themselves couldn't tell me which seats are which (not that I had much choice left).

Thirty one is unbearable. Thirty three is just possibly manageable. You're taller than me by several inches, but I think my legs are maybe disproportionately long or something which is why this seat pitch issue causes me huge suffering.

I saw that in the seatmap but didn't really pay attention to this point, since I always sit on the side, no matter what. I don't even look at the center. But good point.

For me it's alright if they don't recline, once they recline it's awful.

Luckily I have a good success rate with getting exit row seats.

Seat Guru has ominous things to say about the exit rows on this plane. Kinda funny to read.

Yeah, I have no problem with any of the reasons they give. They say the door's a bit cooler, I haven't noticed this but I tend to get hot on planes so I see this as a positive, and I find being close to the bathroom handy. And of course, there's the unlimited legroom.

I prefer the exit economy row to Premium Economy, and only the soft product would prompt me to switch to PE.
