Hi All,

Long time lurker, new poster.

I've noticed AA fares for QF metal SYD-LAX (direct and indirect) are cheaper than QF directly. If one was to book with AA would the QFF point earn be the same as if it was a QF booking?

What other benefits would one miss out on? Eg. advanced seat selection etc.

Are you looking at codeshare AA flights? Can you give some example dates, because my experience has been that the cheaper fares are not available through AA.

If booked on the QF flight numbers you get all QFF benefits - it does not matter what airline issued the ticket.

It's AA codeshare flight numbers, not QF flight numbers.

Just search any SYD-LAX on their site.

On the AA codeshares, QFF points earning would be nil in common discount classes O and Q and 50% in GLMNSV.

As for other benefits, what status do you have with QFF?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
American Airlines® (AA) GLMNSV Discount Economy 0.5 -
BHKY Economy 1 -
DIJ Business 1 25%
AFP First 1 50%

Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.

At the moment, none. Points conversion from AA to QFF doesn't appear to be worth it either.

It appears the AA Australia site gives even cheaper prices than the AA US site.

...It appears the AA Australia site gives even cheaper prices than the AA US site. No, same price but AUD for AA Australia site vs USD for US site. AA codeshare does run >10% cheaper than the QF price for QF metal, a benefit of the AA bankruptcy plus DL competition. Flying beyond LAX on AA can sometimes yield even cheaper fares, depending upon the city and date. But highly load dependent, and some of these fares sell out quickly as only a few seats per plane.

Definitely cheaper on the AU site, after taking into account currency conversion, bank fees and the alikes.
