If one were to visit Paris during the Bastille Day holiday, which Holiday Inn would be the best choice? I would be flying into and out of CDG.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks! belle3388 Feb 20, 02, 8:15 pm In case someone did a search... I stayed at three stars Holiday Inn Paris St. Germain Des Prés, small but adequate room, GREAT location and just steps away from the subway station. Would recommend it for the neighbourhood too. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif www.holiday-inn.com/paris-germain (http://www.holiday-inn.com/paris-germain) [This message has been edited by belle3388 (edited 02-20-2002).] USAFAN Feb 28, 02, 7:32 am Posted by Analise on the PARIS board: I'm in Paris now (have been since Thursday) and wanted to thank all of you for your assistance. The HI St Germain des Pres is perfect for me---right price, right locale. I love the St Germain des Pres arrondisment as well!! I feel I now have a mastery of the Metro. And the tickets in advance advice you all gave was wonderful. I'm having such a great time and have you all thank. Merci beaucoup =========================================== Thanks Belle, looks like a nice hotel. I know the area well and like it. On Holiday's website room in April is Euro 175. Found another website with room for $ 119. monahos Sep 17, 02, 1:09 pm I can confirm that the HI St.Germain is very acceptable. Booked a single for €107 a night on the HI website, was offered a very quiet corner double at check-in, all during a busy period in Paris. wideman Sep 17, 02, 1:16 pm I've had mostly good stays at the St Germain des Pres, but my most recent stay was awful: did not get the room type I was promised, and a consistently indifferent attitude (even worse than one expects in Paris) from most of the staff to both my traveling companion and me. Still, the location and price are hard to beat. dbmaury Sep 17, 02, 1:21 pm Even on the odd chance that the hotel is horrible, stay there just to be in the heart of St. Germain Des Prés, I lived there about a sdecade ago and not a week goes by where I don't think of the old place. wideman Sep 17, 02, 7:29 pm ...stay there just to be in the heart of St. Germain Des Prés Let's not get carried away. The HI is a few bus stops away from the heart of SGdP; it's closer to the Montparnasse tower than it is to SGdP. (If you wanted to be in the midst of St Germain, there are several non-HI hotels on the r. St Benoit or r. Jacob that fill the bill, figuratively and literally.) lonman Sep 18, 02, 4:28 pm i have stayed at the hi bastille on rue lyon, one block from gare de lyon, and the hi garden court on rue miromesnil, one block from the champs. both are nice clean properties with the typical tiny bathrooms. i would recommend either one. has anyone stayed at the hi auteil at rue gudin in the 16e? i'm going to roland garros this wknd at it looks to be the closest. FlyerAl Sep 19, 02, 5:50 pm I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Paris-La Villette. It's not by anything "touristy", but it's across the street from the subway station and bus stop. The hotel itself is brand new, and the rooms were *very* modern and of a good size. It reminded me of one of the newer Sheraton/Hilton rooms in the US. My rate included full breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant. I was very satisfied with my stay there. epigram Sep 22, 02, 5:31 am stayed at the HI place de la republique. steps away from the metro station - it's an interchange with many lines intersecting so getting to /from most parts of paris is quite easy. love the seafood restaurant across the road from it. |
