We are going to both Aman Sveti Stefan and Amanruya this summer.
We have reserved deluxe seaview cottage with terrace at Sveti Stefan, and seaview at Amanruya. We love large terraces with great views and some privacy. Does anyone have specific room recommendations?

At Amanruya, 37 has great views and is very private. 32 could be good, too. All are very acceptable, even non-sea views!

At Sveti Stefan, although No. 40 is relatively small, it has a really good, spacious terrace. As every cottage is entirely different in size and layout, you really should talk to the GM, Kevin Brooke about options.

What are the best options at these properties for families desiring a two bedroom / connecting suite/villa?

At Aman Sveti Stefan the best option is Grand Suite No: 41 which has a staircase down to the cottage below - No: 39.

Amanruya, as far as I am aware, does not have any 2-bed cottages or connecting cottages - they are all free-standing pool villas with their own gardens.

I tried asking the property these questions directly, but the person I spoke to didn't have very good English and we couldn't communicate. So, I am turning to the experts here at FT...

As there are no "connecting" rooms at Amanruya (see Vuittons response above), can anyone confirm if the bedroom and living areas at Amanruya are separated by doors, or is it one open space? If the latter, are there any private areas (eg, dressing room) where a crib could be placed and the door closed?

On a related topic, does anyone have any thoughts on whether Amanruya is kid friendly, which in our case means nothing more than a heated main swimming pool and the provision of high chairs and toys?

If anyone has an email for the GM at Amanruya that would be very welcome.

Many thanks
BM

Found this great video of the villas at Amanruya at Youtube. If you, like me, are going this year, you might enjoy it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDT0E5Ii1Xk I think it looks absolutely stunning. Can't wait to go!!!

Re amanruya: Email the Hotel directly with any questions you might have and they will answer very quickly and in very good English. Actually I just did that just a few hours ago and already have the answers - also to some of your questions:
- you can request a cottage with heated pool. Main pool is however not heated.
- you can place a kids bed in bathroom or wardrobe area, but no door, just a curtain in between. I think, however, that the suite is so spacious that this will work well unless your child is very sensitive to sound. It might look a bit strange design wise with a bed there but I guess you can live with that.

Thank you Kage and Musken - I was hoping you would reply, as you are the expert in finding good spots to hide a child's bed! Unfortunately, I don't think this hotel will work for us with two small children - such a shame, perhaps we will have to leave them behind!

Thanks. I remember at Amanpulo they asked us if we would like the kids bed in the bathroom before I asked myself, and I was feeling like "wow, do they know that I am the famous Musken?"

Two children might be a problem if they cannot sleep in the large living/bedroom area (where there is plenty of space as far as I can see). You should have thought about that before getting two ;) (or are they twins?)

The rooms are extremely spacious at Amanruya. Although the bed is not separated by a wall or curtain from the living area, this is such a large space that you could easily put a couple of small children at the end of the room. I guess they convert the sofas into beds if kids stay.

The resort is not designed for families, but it does not preclude them. I am sure they will have high chairs, but less sure about toys, although Aman tends to be endlessly inventive, so they will probably rush out and buy some if they have not done so already!

The GM is Gabriel Lousada - initial and surname followed by amanresorts.com normally.

I am sure there is room enough as well. However, many small kids are extremely sound or light sensitive when sleeping, meaning that a door in between the room they sleep and the room you still want to use after their bedtime, is a huge advantage. This is why we have often requested the kids bed to be placed in the bathroom and closed the door rather than putting it in a spacious but open living/bedroom. Of course in summer you can just sit outside, though, but not being able to sit inside to read or watch TV or whatever ( :p ) after the kids are asleep is a disadvantage, obviously.

OK, I understand this, in which case, I guess you could put a bed by the tub in the bathroom, which is then well away from the shower and toilet, but I don't think there is sufficient room for two kids - not comfortably. These are BIG bathrooms, but they are not designed for beds. Also, there are skylights in the bathroom, so light floods in at dawn. Is this a problem for kids? Can't remember, as mine is grown up!
