Qatar Airways is very unreliable in their communication process.
It does not matter whether you fly with this airline in Business or Economy, the company just does not respect its passengers.
I took already twice Business Class flights between Sao Paulo (GRU) and Buenos Aires (EZE) - and in both times, when checking-in in EZE I was told storiess about flight cancellation (with no warnings, phone calls, or emails), or huge delay in plane arriving/departing (like 1 week ago - and once again, no warnings, phone calls or emails).
It started with discrimation by a security clerk prior to the counter of check-in. When I approached the line for the Business Class check-in, the security boy before the counter (allowing the passengers to pass through after verifying ticket and passport) said to me: “this line is only for Business Class” in a very sarcastic and superior way.
Why that? Wasn’t I properly attired as he thought? Do I look like someone who cannot be flying Business Class? He did not even ask – gently I must say – if I really was flying your Business Class.
This discrimination towards me annoyed me profoundly and I did comment to the check-in clerk this attitude and beahviour. Not to mention that the Airport Manager – Werner – was nowhere to be seen.
Secondly, the plane left with hours delay, arriving in GRU at 0345am - the plane got to halt for over 10 minutes not knowing where to park. With 90% of the gates & fingers empty, the plane parked at the most far place existing of the airport, with no finger – thus normal staircase, one of the dispatchers annoying me to see my boarding pass (if I really was supposed to get off), a free tour through the airport (as the plane parked on the opposite side of the airport, far away from the terminal), and to end the fact that even with a tag of Business Class on my suitcase, it was one of last ones to show on the belt. So with luck, I was able to leave the airport in a taxi by 0445. FYI – the airport at this time is completely deserted – no one to be seen…
The last time, the cancellation of the flight did harm my businesses very much - as this time as well. I had an 8 o'clock meeting - so no sleep thanks to Qatar.
I have filed a complaint to the company, and after 1 week, no answer was given.
So be careful when taking Qatar Airways - when you get to the airport they tell you if and when you are going to fly - before that, no warning. Must still be using Morse code or smog & drums to communicate!:mad:

I agree that the airline's communication is poor. Their handling of delays and irregular operations, and customer service in general, are unreliable. Although I have not had such bad experiences with on-time arrivals, it seems like you had especially bad luck,

Though why are you so quick to assume that it was "discrimination"? The "security boy," as you call him, was probably not very articulate or adept in communicating in English. He probably was poorly trained, and not focused on customer service, and might have had a bad attitude, but are you sure that he worked for Qatar Airways? (I am not familiar with the layout at EZE, but it sounds like it might have been an airport employee or police officer, not an airline employee? Similarly, I would assume that the aircraft's parking position at an out-station is outside of its control.)

Perhaps you have a chip on your shoulder to quickly claim discrimination, or perhaps there's more to the story of how he treated you than you are telling us?

Thinking about the 35% biz fare difference between EK and QR on my normal route, an old saying comes to my mind :D :D

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

I dont think pilots choose where they need to park the plane.

Ill say it before and ill say it again, Qatar Airways ground staff are just fail...

Hence why i always question the 5* Skytrax ranking because to me a journey is from entering the airport to leaving the airport. Not just entering a plane and leaving the plane.

Their manner is horrible, not caring nor even enthusiastic about their work.:td:

Skytrax has never been a reliable source for the best airlines, I believe that trip reports from actual flyers and (of course) personal experience will be much more accurate than any of these "star ranking" websites. :p

Ranting over things that are outside the airline's control is ridiculous.

Kataka is right. QR do have a big issue regarding communication, but most of your complaints seem to come from you just having a bad day. And trust me, we all have one of theese now and then, but killing the baker if the fish smell..
