Dear FT colleagues,
I have an upcoming trip (in 3 days) booked in Z class and at the moment the availability of the flight is
F6 A6 J6 C6 D6 Z0 P0 Y1 B1 M0 U0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 S0 T0 E0 L0 K0
I do understand that they have 6 seats in F and they are also selling them as C class trying to fill in any place... is my reading correct?
As things stand I should no0t have any chance of op-up to F, right??
thanks for your insights.
If Y is overbooked they might end up filling C with upgrades and bumping up a few C pax to F in order to free up space in the back.
But with regards to the question in general. I have been on flights that were zeroed out for weeks already (consequently getting my hopes up for an op-up) and Y ended up being half empty. On other occasions I was bumped up on cheapo fares when flights showed F8 A8 J9 C9 D9 Z9 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9... So you never know
But good luck anyways!

Would you mind sharing your route and date? Might be easier to assess your Op-Up chances this way...

Correct you don't stand any chance, 2 seats are already sold in F ( they have 8 seats ).

It's hard to tell without checking the seatmap. If the C cabin looks full then it's possible they are selling the same 6 F seats in C as well. If more C seats are sold some C pax will be op-upped to F.

Not necessarily as explained above. If they manage to sell any of the 6 seats in C rather than F, who gets op-upped may depend on status.

Yes, that's another possibility. I was on a flight which had the following availability one day before departure.
F6 A6 J6 C6 D6 Z0 P6 Y0 B0 M0 U0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 S0 T0 L0 K0
F had 6 seats unassinged and almost 1/3 of C seats were unassigned. I briefly wondered about upgrading from C to F with eVouchers but it was a day flight and I decided against the idea. There must have been op-ups from Y to C and consequently C to F. The F cabin ended up 5/8 including myself in 2A and a very last-minute upgrade to 1G.
