Expatforum: New Zealand orders airlines to check visas (http://www.expatforum.com/new-zealand/new-zealand-orders-airlines-to-check-visas.html)
This seems to make sense to me...not sure if the US, UK, Australia, or Canada fine for not checking...
New Zealand is introducing new rules for international airlines which mean they must ensure that passengers have the appropriate visas for entering the country.
This will bring New Zealand in line with a number of other countries that also require airlines to check visas including the UK, the United States, Australia and Canada.
Under new immigration rules, international airlines which do not ensure that passengers have the appropriate New Zealand visa or permission to enter the country will be fined.
