Canada - is there anything to do at YQY?

Unfortunately, I'm going to be stuck there for 7 hrs. on Monday. Flying on a tango fare so no standby.

Had to purchase a last minute fare so didn't have too many flight choices. Fares are quite pricey

If this is Sidney NS and not Sinney Oz, a couple of things I've done while hanging there that were interesting from a Canadian historical perspective were:
- visit the Coal Mines, now worked out but you get to crawl under the sea (doable by taxi); and
- rent a car and go see Louisburg. Very neat.
Of course, both depend on yours being a daytime layover and not "after hours".

Louisburg is a great suggestion. No matter what, you need a car. The airport is far from anything.

Otherwise take a taxi into Sydney and go drinking at Smooth Herman's :-)

I live in Halifax and have lots of family in YQY and even I avoid the place.....

There is nothing in the airport. If you have 7 hours, get a taxi to take you to the Miners Museum in Glace Bay. It is a relatively short drive. Arrange for a return pickup, and then spend two hours or so in the museum. You could explore Glace Bay - but there is not much to explore.

Louisbourg is probably a bit too far for a comfortable visit in the timeframe.

Don't bother going into Sydney unless there are no other options.

+1 to the Miners' Museum. You may wish to rent a car, rather than take a taxi, however. Probably a better idea to find a place for lunch in Sydney rather than Glace Bay...

I think OP just booked a late flight out of there and maybe doesn't have anything planned for 7 hours between what he's doing and the flight out.
