On today's NZ429 (AKL-WLG 12 noon departure), green tea was served as an experiment, in addition to the usual tea / coffee / water.

It tasted pretty good, so hopefully this continues.

Yeah I had a green tea last week, first hot drink on a domestic flight for me. :)

I had it on this months jet flights only.
I believe it is part of a Chinese New Years promotion of the China flights. Did you also notice the different printing on the cups?
IMO it was quite nice, not bitter like I feared it could be, I think it is made from powder not a bag.

It was offered a couple of weeks ago on AKL-WLG when one of the stewards donned a huge panda head. I am sure there was an explanation but the announcement was so muffled I couldn't hear. I also assumed it was CNY-related.

In the last 12 days I have done 4 AKL-WLG and 4 WLG-AKL sectors.

Green tea on all of them, specially printed cups on only a few sectors.

More interesting to me is that boiled AirNZ sweets before landing have appeared on only one sector!

My experience this year so far after 21 flights is that they appear about one flight in four or so.

Forget upgrades, we want our lollies!

Out of the almost 100 in the last 15 months I've not had the lollies on about 2 or 3 flights.

yes I had a very good strike rate until recenlty, and suddenly it dropped off

I also know several of the AKL-WLG flights have had quite quick flight times, 41-43 minutes, on two occassions rubbish was not cleared

one one occassion I heard the purser twice telling the other staff to get a hurry on as they went about their dutites

I've never flown AKL-WLG so maybe that's where the issue lies.

You may very well hold some sort of record for most domestic legs taken without a single AKL-WLG or WLG-AKL. :)

Until now, I've never taken a flight directly to Wellington that hasn't been to change planes for somewhere else in the North Island, I break that duck next weekend with a trip to Wellington for a wedding.

I'm sure that's definitely a record. :)

Total opposite here, I've never taken a domestic commercial flight in NZ that hasn't been between AKL and WLG.

I'll have to change that sometime!

You're missing out, there's some impressive flight paths and landings especially in the South Island.

Back to the subject of green tea, I had it for the first time on AKL-WLG on Tuesday. Definitely a thumbs-up from my perspective ^

The service manager's announcement mentioned it was part of the "Best of both worlds" promotion, which I think is how they're trying to market their China routes:
