Can't you guys believe there is more cruise passengers who went onto cruise trips. I cannot not imagine what happened South Florida is getting more extremely overcrowded.
There is 8 cruise ships who came into Port Everglades. They setting a new world records by last few year ago.
Seems like every year they set another record around peak spring break time. And not so much that it's 8 ships, it's which 8 ships. 2 large Royal Caribbean and 3 large Princess ships at the same time, all pretty much maxed out with kids, to go along with the smaller Carnival, HAL and MSC ships. Fortunately, that port can handle the traffic well, being as spread out as it is.

They could probably fill up whatever ships they can get to the port.
It's a crazy easy place to sail from, I have never felt crowded there (though we are never in the first group to board the ship), it was very easy to get out of there when the ships come back, etc
Look at the capacities of the ships there that day (not counting crew, and some numbers may be based on double occupancy, which will change with kids in the room)
Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Miracle - 2,124
Holland America Line's Eurodam - 2,104
Princess Cruises' Crown Princess - 3,080
Emerald Princess - 3,080
Grand Princess - 3,114
Royal Caribbean International's Liberty of the Seas - 3,634
Oasis of the Seas - 6,296
MSC Cruises’ MSC Poesia - 3,605
Balearia’s Pinar del Rio - 463
If you add all those up, that's 27,500 passengers getting off and another 27,500 getting on again. It's pretty astounding they can flip that many people in and out of there in a day.

Ask the Governor in your state if they would love to have so many people spending so much money in hteir state ?
Heck, ask the population if they want more jobs both from the traffic and the resulting prosperity.

I have to admit, Port Everglades definitely seems like one of the easiest ports to deal with, even with lots of people. And getting to and from the airport there has got to be one of the easiest places for any port in the world.
And I'm somewhat addicted to watching the ships sail out on teh webcams :).

i sailed out the day after, on the 18th. we embarked fairly quickly as we arrived earlier than suggested. ;) having status is a nice thing even for cruising.
my one peeve about leaving was the horrible way the taxi queue is handled. i "thought" 2.5 hrs before my flight would be plenty of time to get a taxi, get to airport and check in. i was wrong. after almost 45 mins in line, i ended up paying one of those "scalper" van drivers who charged a stupid amount to the airport. we checked in via the mobile app and got to the bag drop off counter with literally 1 min to spare. i was quite stressed by then. i won't make that mistake again and will get off the ship as early as possible.
my suggestion, for the taxi queue, would be to sort it by those needing rides to airport or those who are local. or even airport by flight times. by the time we got into line, there had to be almost 30 people in line with limited taxis, both in size and number, to haul people places.
