Hi , I'm flying BA to Mumbai landing at 1145 with an onward connection to Goa on AI at 1500 on two separate tickets. After reading some of the post about transfer times at Mumbai I am beginning to worry Have I allowed myself enough time ?

Yeah, 3 hours should be enough...
In the case that you miss the flight, AI has a pretty flexible rebooking policy - you should be able to get yourself onto the 20:15 flight just by paying the change fee (assuming space available).

3 hours is the bare minimum time i would give myself to transfer in bom....

Generally International to Domestic is easier than the other way. After you exit Customs, go right to domestic transfer area, where you can check bags and then board the inter terminal bus. The bus takes to the domestic arrivals terminal inside the airport. From there it is a breeze. The whole process after customs, should take no more than an hour.
