China - Fog/Smog grounds PEK flights Mar 17

Hopefully not too many FT'ers are caught up in the situation.

Not sure what is worse ... the fog or the air pollution. I'm sure it's not fun either way.

Unlike the simply putrid air we experienced during late December, yesterday's problem was fog in the conventional sense of the word. SLT would have been fine, were it not for the rain/snow. I was stuck there, but a mere y40 was sufficient to get me out of that jam in reasonably short order.

Today's weather is great.
