Air New Zealand Air Points - *A Gold baggage benefits for domestic flights (Grab-a-seat+baggage)

Hi,
Can somebody please clarify the luggage policy for *A (BMI Gold) member flying on a domestic NZ flight booked through the domestic website?

NZ's website (http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/domestic-compare-products)states that on Grab A Seat + Bag fares, "Airpoints Gold / Gold Elite and Koru members may check-in 1 additional piece."
It does not mention anything about non-NZ Star Alliance Gold members.

Two of us are traveling, both with one checked bag each. I'm considering purchasing one Grab A Seat ticket for my partner, and one Grab A Seat + bag for myself, assuming that my ticket (GAS+bag) will allow me a total of 2 checked bags (thanks to my *A status).

Is my assumption correct?

AFAIK Yes. To obtain the *G extra bag on domestic fares you will need to purchase a fare that has free checked baggage.
You should also get the opportunity for seat selection, including Space+ and lounge access.

A quick follow up question, what happens if you purchase grabaseat (no bags)? Does *G get one free bag or is the only *G benefit an extra bag if you purchase +bag?
