Africa - How to use miles for SFO to Morocco

My friend just invited me to join her on a trip to Morocco. I am still inexperienced in maximizing miles redemption and am trying to figure out if I can pull this off using relatively few miles. I have miles in Delta, United and AA and plan on flying coach. The thing is that it is a last minute trip (roughly April 27-May12) so there aren't any award options straight into Morocco.

I've read in this forum that another way to fly to Morocco is to fly into a European hub and then take a discount airline into Casablanca or Marrakesh. Based on my initial search it looks like I can fly into/out of LHR or CDG for 60k miles r/t, plus the cost to fly down to Morocco. Is there any advantage to fly into either of these airports in terms of then transferring to a discount airline and flying to Morocco? Do you have any other recommendations for this trip? Also, is there a website/program that can check all airlines to check available flights and their award miles requirement? I'm sure there must be. Thanks.

What's your budget?

I looked at Air France (which would earn you Delta miles), and you could fly round trip CDG to CMN (April 28, assuming the 27th is your US departure date, to May 12) for $346.

There are no discount airlines that fly from LHR so you would have to transfer to LGW/LTN/STN. Royal Air Maroc fly to Casablanca and Tangier from LHR.

If you have a surfeit of AA miles, fly AA or IB to MAD and on to Marrakesh or Casablanca on Iberia. On BA, the YQ (fuel surcharges) should be taken into consideration. Air Europa flies to Morocco as well, in terms of LCCs.

On *A, tons of availability on TP from LIS.

Thanks paullevi. On second look there are a handful of flights from SFO to Marrakesh or Casablanca on *A. It appears that all returning flights from Marrakesh have a 9+ hour layover but returning for Casablanca has shorter layovers. I will have to consult with my friend about our itinerary in Morocco and then make a decision. Unfortunately some of the miles needed for this trip won't be credited to my account until early April. Hopefully there will still be availability then.

One factor to consider re. the Marrakech vs. Casa layover: You probably only need a day in Casa from a sightseeing perspective, and if you miss it entirely, it's not the greatest loss. So while flights to/from Casa might have a shorter layover, it probably forces you to spend a night Casa when you arrive and when you depart. On the other hand, two nights in Marrakech is barely enough. So the longer layover for the x-Marrakech flights still may translate into more sightseeing time.
