Anyone have any info on these? Are they 2011? 2012? Base Model, etc?

Going for honeymoon and want a nice car. No 5-Series available at SFO.

Have an Infiniti rented at Hertz, but I own one, so not a nice change of pace.

Kicker is, I need unlimited miles, which really hampers the Hertz Prestige Collection.

I know this is far too late and probably won't help you at this point, but perhaps it will help others.

I rented a BMW 328i from SFO last year (Aug. 2011). It was a 2011 328i. Pretty much a base model except for power seats.

However, it did come with unlimited miles. It was a very nice ride, and was great to drive down Hwy. 1 to Monterrey.

We had the same issue with Hertz Prestige that you did. They had MB C-Classes, but I didn't want to be restricted with a mileage limit.

So, overall, the Avis Prestige 328i was a great deal. I just wish they'd offer 328i's like this in more cities!

Anyone see the new 2013 BMWs 3-series/5-series anywhere?

I've only seen the 2011-2012 3-series for rent, and I'm dying to rent the refreshed 328i.

Just finished a two-day rental of a brand new 2012 5-series (528i) at SFO. The SFO garage looked to be quite full of BMWs, with models in several reserved slots and two on the upgrade row. (This was on July 2nd.)

There was a choice between a 2012 5-series and a 3-series. Normally the 3 would be just fine, but as I just finished a 5 day rental of the 2012 Audi A6 in Tuscany, I was particularly interested in how the 5 series stacked up.

Don't know if the 3-series model was brand new, but if it were it didn't look to be one from the special trim lines (no chrome around the window.)

The 5 series was decently appointed with navigation and parking cameras, and I assume satellite radio (although I didn't go looking for it.) The seats did not have heating or cooling (no big loss in northern CA,) and--unfortunately--they weren't of the 16-way multi-contour variety (although I wouldn't expect them to be.)

Overall it was a fantastic car. The engine, being a 4-stroke, was particularly impressive. Great turbo on that thing, and of course, a great ride.
