Dear all,
On 02.03.2012, I got my flight cancelled from Amsterdam to Oslo, 6 hours before the flight was plannend to departure. I got no help from the Norwegian customer service, and eventually bought myself a KLM flight for 200 euros. I have been clearly denied boarding, and under the EU regulations be compensated for 250 euros + the price of the original ticket?

Since, I arrived, I have sent an email to their customer relations department (customer.relations@norwegian.no), and have been waiting.... Now it has been 3 weeks, how much longer do you think I should wait, or how should I proceed?
Sincerely,
SB

Welcome to Norwegian... its an LCC, so I wouldn't expect anything more than a refund from them volontarily. If you enter DY1259 02MAR into the euclaim.com query screens it seems you are entitled to comp, so maybe that is an option.

Aren't there legal requirements for them to both notoify you of your rights and follow through on them within a certain timeframe? Essentially, as someone who is US based and has yet to encounter a situation where it applies to my travel, are there any penalties imposed for airlines failing to follow these regulations and adopting a "let's hope the pesky passengers are unaware/don't press the matter?"

You are supposed to be told your rights when notified of cancellation or denial of boarding.

Of course if it was the other way (OSL-AMS) this wouldn't apply.

261/2004 applies equally to both Norway and Switzerland in addition to members of the EU so flights departing and arriving in these countries are subject to the Regulation.

Oh and well done to the OP for making your claim and not being fobbed off.

I travel regularly from Dubai to the UK. For Christmas, I took a Norwegian Air flight as it was cheap if I flew through Stockholm. What a mistake! The flights provide no food or drink (even water for a 7 hour flight), and no entertainment. Really, really poor. The food on board that you can purchase is overpriced and of poor quality.
When I arrived back in Dubai yesterday it appeared that they had left my bag in Stockholm. I had a message at Dubai airport to say they had left it in Stockholm and would be sending it on the flight the next day. Today, I phoned Dubai Airport and the have been told it will now arrive 3 days late.
Of course, Norwegian Air have no customer service email address, only an international number. Soooooo cross!
Never travelling with them again!
