Next week, I am flying into JFK with my partially disabled mother (she is not wheel chair bound, but cannot walk significant distances due to a heart condition). The hotel that we will be staying at for the night has a hotel shuttle that leaves from Station C Federal Circle.
Does anyone know how difficult is it going to be for us to get from our arriving flight on Jet Blue to Station C Federal Circle? It if is going to involve a lot of rigamarole, should we just get in a cab or will the cab drivers feel gypped that the fare isn't going into the city?
Silly questions, I know, I am just trying to anticipate any possible issues.....

After 9PM until mid May the Airtrain that goes from terminals to Federal Circle

After 9PM until mid May the Airtrain that goes from terminals to Federal Circle will be replaced by a bus. It will be a nightmare, the buses pack passengers and bags and your mother may not even be able to get a seat. Take cab.

Depending on your arrival time - cab may be just as much as much a pain in queue waiting for availability. I've never flown into JetBlue terminal but most terminals have a skyway or overpass (excluding Delta) to AirTran. You select the outer most AirTran (doesn't matter whether going Howard Beach or Jamaica) and go about 10 minutes (or less).
The route is very handicap accessible but not sure how long the hotel shuttle.
Cabs will dislike the short fare but it is their obligation to make the trip but make sure the cabbie knows where the hotel as some aren't familiar with Queens to avoid taking an inefficient route (multiple exits out of JFK).

Again, if it is after 9PM the Airtrain will not be running to Federal Circle, shuttle buses instead. And it will be not something you would want to subject an eldery person with physical difficulties to that situation.

Thanks for the replies - Our flight arrives at about 7:20 so the train should still be running.....
The hotel is the Best Western right outside the airport grounds, so the shuttle ride should be quite short.
So, I will just play it by ear and see what time we actually land and how it looks when we get there.
We fly out the next morning on an American flight that my brother will be piloting to St. Thomas - my mom doesn't know - it's a surprise!!
Thanks again for the input. I appreciate it.

Just remember that the Airtrain will not be operational before 7AM so plan for additional time. I would suggest that if you see a crowded bus (assuming the Airtrain is not running) wait for an empty one so that your mother can be seated. Terminal 8 (AA) will be the last stop so she won't have to get up and move within a crowded bus. Just leave additional time.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Thanks again, George. Fortunately the hotel shuttle does DROP-OFFs directly to the terminals, it is just the PICK-UPS that are done at Federal Circle, so we should be good in that regard the following morning.
