Hi all,

I'm new with the KA Skypass program and thought I should try their Visa credit card to earn miles and reward. However, I'm having a difficult time trying to find out how their program works. I called the Skypass department was told that because I had 0 mile she couldn't help me and I had to call the credit card company, who already told me to call Skypass for redemption information. Not a very good first impression.

So, I searched and found this forum. Would someone please give me a short and simple (if that's even possible) explanation on how miles earned on the Visa signature credit card can be redeemed? I just signed up and got approved for the Visa with 20K miles bonus.

Thanks!

I know a little bit about Korean Air's Skypass program as I'm their Skyteam Elite member Morning Calm.
They have an Okay award program. But as you might know due to rising fuel cost, Korean Air imposes hefty fuel surcharge fees. Generally you will have to suck up +$400 for long haul flights to Asia from North America. And you would need at least 70,000 miles to redeem a ticket to far east on their award. I think their value of miles isn't that great due to the fact that Korean imposes hefty fees for fuel surcharge.

You have to go to the "Award Booking" area of the website and see what their availability is for your destination. The only give about a 6-month future time frame. You can also just do an upgrade. Also can be done by phone.

It was all good information. Maybe I should wait until the 20K bonus miles get loaded in my Skypass account and try it out.

oh wow, did not know this. I thought it was a relatively cheap tax you had to pay (like $60-$80).

Be sure that your visa card and skypass number matches up.

Visa card they sent me didnt match up with skypass number(they created a new account) and so had to jump through hoops to get them to match up.

Also, u can look into Chase Sapphire Preferred card for bonus point signups.
Chase UR points can be transferred into KE skypass.

Yea, the award ticket cost is quite high.
Mine was $300+ for a one way from US to SE Asia.
Same cost regardless of Economy, Business or First.
