This email was sent to me this morning.
Dear Mr Austgap,
At Velocity, we review your Account daily to see whether you're eligible for an upgrade. To upgrade to Platinum, your Status Credit balance needs to be 1,000 and you need to have flown eight Eligible Sectors*.
Based on your current Status Credit balance, you could upgrade to Platinum membership by earning an additional 430 Status Credits by 13 September 2012. You could earn these Status Credits by taking 11 return Flexi Fare flights between Brisbane and Sydney.
Remember that you can upgrade at any time, so to earn more Status Credits and upgrade faster, you can choose to fly in a higher fare class or internationally with many of our airline partners.
Book your next flight today and move closer to Platinum membership.
Yours sincerely,
Phil Gunter
General Manager, Velocity Frequent Flyer
Yet looking at my Gold Velocity card my review date is 31 May. Has anyone else had this promotion lately? Most likely if extended till September I'll earn the remaining 430sc...not 11 flexi flights though:rolleyes:

yeah i had a similar email, but on mine, it had my review date as 13th June when it really should be in late December.
I called velocity today about it and the guy told me that the date on the email must be wrong because in their system is verified as late December.
I think velocity have got their dates mixed up
Did you both do the status match?
Some status matches expiry dates were given to customers are per the card/program they did the match from.
I'd be checking with Velocity again, as you don't want to get to the actual date and think you have re-qualified for Silver/Gold/Plat and then a date mix on their system means that you haven't.

Nope, didn't do the status match.
Velocity assured me that it was an error on their part and they don't know why the email was sent with that date on it. They said the review date for me is in late December and confirmed it on their system.
I am however still kinda skeptical because it would suck if something did happen and they reset my status credits. I might call them again and get them to send me something in writing.

Spoke to a rather unhelpful Velocity agent - who said No the email is incorrect so there's no extension :(

Just came to this belated but Virgin here are reffering to the date you need 430sc to upgrade by not to requalify for gold. As Virgin use a rolling 12 month calculation to upgrade a tier it's entirely possible that your review date (for gold) is 31 May but with an additional 430sc by September you'd hit Platinum - which is what the email says.

Oh thanks for that qwertyuiop! Just a quick question. Regarding SC it states When you purchase a single domestic or international short haul fare with Virgin Australia and there is a via point which does not involve a stopover, the Status Credits are awarded on the mileage from origin to destination
What happens if you got a combo of a short haul Int and a long haul int. eg: AKL-SYD-LAX is that counted as AKL-LAX or AKL-SYD-LAX.
Cheers:)

From most reports international legs count as multi stops. It's only domestic (eg. MEL-BNE-NTL) that count as one stop (eg. MEL-NTL).
Hope that helps.

The terms of the program are that, when there are connecting flights, flight numbers beginning 'DJ' are counted from beginning to end , while flight numbers beginning 'VA' are counted per flight sector.
