Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Programs - Questions on Air China LAX-PEK-BKK in F/C.

I have a couple question I hope some people around here can answer. I'm looking to book an award using UA miles for LAX-PEK in F on the new 77W and then PEK-BKK in C. There really aren't any other F options on the couple of days I want and the new F seat on the 77W looks like it's worth a try.

1. What lounge does CA use in LAX? This is for the 1:20pm departure.
2. I've read in some threads about being escorted through the transfer formalities in PEK. Would I be eligible for this or do they then consider me a C passenger at that point (seems there is no F cabin on the PEK-BKK flight)?
3. Related to (2), would I get to use the F lounge? Sounds like I wouldn't miss much if I couldn't, but still.
4. Anyone have any experience in the new F seats flying to LAX?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

My understanding is that the Air China Flights leave out of Terminal 2 and that there is an arrangement by invitation with the Air Canada LAX Maple Leaf Lounge.

However, if you are Star Gold, I'd recommend the NZ Koru Club next door, open after 1230 PM.

There is not much in the AC lounge, or Terminal Two as far as amenities.

Your other questions are unknown to me.

You should take TG (in F) between PEK and BKK, even if doing so entails a longer stopover.

Unfortunately I lost *G this year. It seems like the Koru Club is much better than the MLL.

Thanks for the link. I saw that too, but overall it seems there's not too much information out there for CA. Hopefully the couple of folks in that thread with upcoming flights will also post their experiences.

I thought of that too, but I'm looking in July and it seems TG no longer flies any aircraft with F to PEK anymore.

Yeah, mine was downgraded to C. You could route to HKG on your return if you want.
They still have BKK-HKG in F, that way you could get the free massage in BKK.

You're in F, who cares about *G? :D You get access anyway. The AC MLL is indeed the "designated" lounge though. It is pretty much what you would expect from a small MLL if it were in Canada. (self-serve bar, real snack-type food, lame Wi-Fi, etc.) They also call the CA flight in the AC lounge, where as I've not seen it next door in the NZ lounge. The time the NZ lounge "opens" (or rather changes from VS to NZ) is pretty inconvenient for the CA departure time, but it's enough time to squeeze in a quick shower and/or a quick bite to eat if you want.

Does CA also use the MLL for the 1AMish departure?

Yes, the NZ lounge closes before then so the MLL is the only *A lounge at that time. (unless you get in really early and want to sit in the NZ lounge for 1/2 hour or something)

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond. As it turns out, availability just opened on OZ in F for my preferred date so I grabbed that instead. But I will definitely keep this information in mind since it seems availability in CA F is plentiful.
