This has narrow appeal to those outside Qatar, but it's a great deal for those with the Qatar National Bank Qatar Airways MasterCard. E.g., business-class redemption from the U.S. to DOH on the two-class B777, which is an outstanding product, is 105,000 miles round-trip (normally 140,000). Some regional destinations are 50% off.

Details at www.qnb.com.qa.

Thanks Mecabq, this could come in handy. Do you know how the promo works? Are the miles credited back to your account once you pay with QNB card? There is no special link for the promo so not exactly sure how to access it.

Thanks

Good question. It's strange -- I just logged in and booked my flight, and everything worked out. It quoted me the 52,500 miles for IAH-DOH one-way in J, as I suppose that the fact that I am a QNB Qatar Airways card holder is somehow registered in my Privilege Club account.

Then it quoted me the taxes, and I chose to pay with the QNB Qatar Airways card. I am not sure what would have happened had I chosen a different payment method -- would it not accept the payment, or somehow reverse the transaction later?

Hmm, that is strange. Especially as it says 1 booking allowed for burgundy and 2 allowed for gold/silver.

I've got two US trips coming up, but am hesitant to use it in J for those trips. The 50% off India (Where J mileage tickets are already a fantastic deal) is pretty unbeatable and a lot easier on the mileage account.

Also, I'm guessing changes/cancellations are treated the same as full fare mileage tickets (free changes/cancellations up to a year for gold?)

Thanks again,

QR should really now target to take a chunk out of Emirates customers by going international which has appeal to the international market by offering discounts using other cards rather than just focusing on the middle east market.

Pardon the pun but really hope QR takes off.

Thanks again,

I checked the T&C and the cancellation and change rules are the same as with normal mileage tickets. I suppose that this means that you can change the date later, even after the period to redeem at a discount ends, and still get the discounted price. Very stong incentive to book even placeholder awards that you can always cancel later.

I agree about India, but, given how outstanding QR's 777-300 J is (which they use for all U.S. flights), I think that it's really a great deal.

Or there are MLE flights, which are only 15,000 miles round-trip in business. (Funny, the cash-and-miles price is the same in miles -- 15,000 plus QAR 1,462.)
