Virgin Australia is radically overhauling its baggage allowances, pricing and weight limits for checked luggage on all domestic flights and trans-Tasman services to New Zealand.
From May 16th the airline will abandon its current system of charging for baggage according to weight and shift to a ‘per piece’ model.
Passengers will be limited to a maximum of two checked bags of before extra charges kick in, even if they hold elite Platinum status in Virgin’s Velocity frequent flyer program

should stop a lot of abusing of luggage policy for general public

ie family of 6 buys one persons luggage and they each bring a suitcase totally 23kg.

but i can see a downside to it people claiming being treated unfairly etc.
