Hi there,

Flying to JNB shortly and despite being loyal to BA, I'd give a try to QR as I never flew QR before, they are cheaper and that I will easily requalify for Gold this year anyway.

I have two options,
- 1 hour connection time in Doha (from LHR)...which seems quite short to me, if I miss my connection, I will probably have to wait for the next day flight, which is not really a solution for me.

- or 7h layover (from BRU) which seems quite long as I understand that J passengers do not have access to private rooms or the SPA. 7 hours in a Business Class lounge during the night does not seem to be a fantastic experience. An a transit hotel room for 150$ for just 4/5 hours of sleep seem a bit expensive. I guess that going out of the airport while connecting might also be a hassle, no?

Any thoughts about this, guys?

thanks

I have been told 1 hour is enough time and I am in a similiar position to you.
However since I have never been to DOha Airport I would wait go for the 7hr option depending upon what timings of course

A little reseach on this forum would tell you that 35 mins. is a legal connection at DOH.

- 01 Hr connection in Doha is sufficient for passenger to connect the onward flight.

- Transit less than 08Hours will not be eligible for the paid/complimentary hotel for transit ( called STPC ). If your nationality is entitled for the visa upon arrival, you can find the nearest hotel. I do recommend you to check Oryx Rotana Hotel for the rate. http://www.rotana.com/rotanahotelandresorts/qatar/doha/oryxrotana
