Personally I especially like the $50 back on a $100 TicketMaster purchase. Unfortunately we only have a total of two Amex cards in my household, I wish I was like those FT'ers that had literally dozens of Amex cards and as a result made thousands of dollars on the Amex "Gift Chain" promo this past holiday season.

FYI, I use my Cent at White Castle. The real fun are the (usually) non-native North Americans who look at and hold the metal card and don't think its an actual credit card. ;)

I linked mine yesterday. The email acknowledgement says:

And then I tweeted the specific offers and got tweets back. So for me, it appears that the offer is specific to one linked card.

I would wait a week to see if the credit showed up on your online statement. My Austin and McDs credits posted within a week.

I was not getting a response to the tweets at first, so I tweeted their folks at @askAmex who confirmed that there was something wrong with my account. They referred it to the tech guys and now I get responses.

As others have said - we all do it in the chase for points/miles/$$$$. A few months ago I was negotiating the price on a 5ct diamond bracelet for my wife - woke up in the morning and found my offer had been accepted. I was so shocked I quickly used PayPal to pay for it. Later that day I realized I had used my "default" credit card from my old job (no points - no miles - not even a kiss). I was beside myself. But I screwed up the courage to contact the company, explained my idiocy, and they cancelled the payment and re-billed me :-)

The terms require an in store purchase, sometimes the actual terms are more generous than the stated ones, but online transactions will probably not count. I did get the statement credit for a giftcard purchased at a Whole Foods check out counter.

if you sign-up for a card you used before, it will say that the card has been registered. after that, just move on to the next Amex card.

It's only $10, but I'm sure someone will find a creative way to get the credit. I assume none of the stores/restaurants in JFK process their credit card charges through a main store in the right part of Manhattan?
