I don't know where to start this thread, so I apologize in advance if I have chosen the wrong forum. However, I'm curious what FT does to vet an alleged company rep (those with a "green" user id). The reason I ask is that I have been PM'd by someone who claims to be a company rep asking for a lot of personal information to address a problem I have raised on FT. If they are legit, I don't mind providing the info, but I'd hate to disclose all of this info to someone who is not who they say they are. (And we're talking about a person who has less than 20 posts, so they do not have an established presence on the board, such as someone like Starwood Lurker.)

I am the person responsible. I check to make sure that they have an official relationship with the company.

If I were uncomfortable as you are, I'd ask for their name, company, email address, and company phone number. Then you make the contact so that you have done your personal screening.
