My wife will be traveling through Paris (CDG) on Delta will have to overnight there. She doesn't have a US or EU passport nor does she have a Schengen Visa so she won't be permitted to go through EU customs to leave the airport.

Are there any hotels within the confines of the airport that she can stay at or will she be forced to camp out on a airport bench somewhere? Any other options to consider in this situation?

Also if I understand correctly, since she has Gold status on Delta, she can use the Air France lounges for free on an international flight. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for any help.

CDG has no airside hotels, so she won't be able to get a room. I'm not sure if there are any 'pod' type facilities at CDG. She should have access to the AF lounges; just double check and make sure that they don't close. I doubt they do since flight opns. run fairly continuously at CDG. Otherwise, the benches might be it. CDG is not the nicest airport to connect through in Europe.

AMS does have a Mercure hotel with airside rooms, if that would better suit your needs.

Moving this thread to the AF forum, as it is related to a connection within AF's hub at CDG. Thanks for your understanding.

Hope it helps :)

Thanks all for the help. It looks like it is a doable situation to overnight in the hotel even if less than ideal. It looks like AF's lounges will be open until about midnight and then re-open at 5:30am.

I'll see if I can maybe get her ticket changed through AMS. I still have a bit of time to do so.

There are a number of inexpensive hotels around CDG if a transit VISA is possible, and most have shuttle van service.

As previously said, there is no hotel airside in CDG.

I have heard that Yotel is a good solution in AMS.
