Hello. I've never searched for award redemption on Skypass so forgive the simple questions. I'm trying to book a trip in business or better for 2 people from ORD and go to Seoul, Tokyo and Bejing. I have 330k miles and would like to travel in early May. It's looking like there is a lot of availability so I have high hopes.

My question is to the stopover rules for KE. I see that I am allowed one stopover per leg and a maximum of two per roundtrip. What is KE's definition of stopover- maximum length?

This is for my parents, but for me on AA I usually search for availability on the short legs I want, then call in and request the specific flights- is this the best way to go about a stopover itinerary on Skypass? Since one ways are 50% of roundtrip, I would be allowed to pick and choose my flights to an open jaw plan correct if necessary?

I'm also using expert flyer, and I seem to remember reading some caveat about KE and expert flyer a long time ago, but can't remember exactly what it was... or should I stick to KE's site?

Both places say the First class seats are Award & Upgrade... Is there a difference or if there is a seat open I can grab it?

And one final question- is it possible to purchase miles or upgrades with cash if necessary? I can't see anything like this but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Thanks.

For the upgrade you must have already purchased a ticket in coach or other. I am not sure about combining points and cash. I believe Delta lets you do this and you can use your KE miles on Delta since they are a travel partner.

Thank you!

Regarding the upgrade/award thing, to clarify I was asking if there are reserved 'upgrade only' seats in first class- on the expert flyer and the Korean Air website there is one bucket shown for 'award & upgrade seats', while in business class there are separate 'award' and 'upgrade' buckets.

My understanding is that upgrades and awards for first class on KE both come out of the same bucket, in contrast to business class where they have separate buckets. (AF/KL use the same bucket for upgrades and awards in business class, as an example of a carrier that does what KE does with F.)

If you're using SkyPass miles and want business class, I'd just use the KE site. EF only seems to show O inventory on intra-Asia routes now.
