Air France Frequence Plus - Best place for a long layover at CDG with kids?

We're flying IAD-CDG-VCE later this month, in J. We arrive in 2E, depart from 2D. Layover is close to 4 hours. We'll be traveling with our three kids, ages 6, 4.5, and 20 months. Any thoughts on the best place to spend the layover? As I understand it, the lounge in 2D is land side, which isn't ideal, and I'd hate to spend the time in the arrival lounge and then make the trek over to 2D in a rush. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm curious as well, considering spending 6 hours (night time) at CDG this summer. Either a lounge or hotel perhaps. Is there something like the mercure (like in AMS) available at CDG?

As for VCE, would you let us know how you liked it? We will be traveling there soon as well, and I'm curious about (among other things :P) the AZ lounge.

Hello BHB!
I thought flights for VCE departed from 2F1, but this might be a recent change.
As you fly in J, you have access to the Arrivals lounge in 2C, that has good showers and a nice breakfast spread, and then head to 2D around 45 minutes before your flights.
You will have access to the "Acces no1" priority lane for security in 2D.

If you are looking for a hotel, the Sheraton is the most convenient, as it is built inside terminal 2 (landside, though).
It is pretty expensive, though.

The IBIS offers rooms that can be occupied by the hour during the day, with a minimum of 2 hours. It is located about 5mn away from the TGV station, using the CDGVAL automated shuttle. Note that the number of rooms available on an hourly basis is subject to capacity control. I have used the IBIS several times when I had a long connection, because sleeping in a adequate bed is more relaxing than spending the time in most AF lounges at CDG.

I would have preferred to spend the time at the Sheraton, but the IBIS is more affordable. :)

We've been to VCE many times, and the AZ lounge is really nothing special. The airport itself is rather new and never really crowded.

This will be our first time there with kids, though, so my opinion may change... :-)

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Our itinerary reads 2D, though I imagine like at most airports, that is subject to change.
