I'm going into town on a long-ish stopover, and was wondering if the Thai lounges in Suvarnabhumi (*G access lounges) have anywhere I could leave my roll-on for a few hours -

Thanks

D.

They have luggage racks for use while you are in the lounge but I don't think they will want to accept responsibility while you are out of the lounge. For one because lounges are in the sterile area and you are proposing to leave luggage there, exit immigration go downtown and come back in.

Too much can go wrong along the way that could cause headache for you and/or them.

I never leave my rollaboard in the lounge--I take it out to the Left Luggage run by Chubb and just pay to have them take custody of it for several hours or all day while I head to town. I take the valuables with me in the daypack. Think it's now 100 baht a day. It's in the front (nonsecure) side of terminal, kind of in the middle-- Level 2 maybe?

No lounge that I am aware of "accepts responsibility". Some have personal lockers, which is a nice touch.

Where are the racks situated in the lounge ?

forumpersona999 is correct - the staff in the regular Royal Silk/Royal Orchid lounges will not want to mind your luggage while you're downtown (it's a different matter in the Royal First lounge, however).

You'll find there are racks just inside the entrances of the C and E pier lounges. Do not leave valuables in your luggage, lock up your luggage if possible, and leave a note explaining your onward flight. Let the lounge staff know you'll be back around X-pm (maybe have the lounge staff write a note in Thai to stick on the luggage also).

Your luggage should be OK, but do not leave anything you are not prepared to lose.

Using the Chubb service as recommended by jiejie is a good idea, although I have never tried it.

Left luggage on floor 2 near door 3, or on floor 4 in the back near the post office, is easy and I've used the 2nd floor booth on a handful of occasions.

Currently they have lots and lots of bags. Don't leave valuables in your bag. They have also warned me they wouldn't be responsible for a bottle of booze in my bag.... I figured if it made the flight ok it would be ok in their hands... and it was.

Costs are 100Baht for the first 24 hours. After that the charges change somewhat. On a recent 36 hour hold the cost was 150Baht so there must be a partial day charge after the first day.

I'd jump on the bandwagon of recommending you to leave your bag(s) here rather than the lounge.

I don't like the idea of TG being involved in holding luggage for passengers in open Star Alliance lounges, knowing that the paxs have left the airport.

Your like or dislike is completely irrelevant.

We are using the Royal First lounge, then heading into Bangkok for part of a 16-hour layover.

The First lounge will hold rollaboards during that time? Do they have a secure area?

Thanks.
