I just had a rude phone conversation with AF (what a suprise :p)...

When I try to make a booking on a AF flight with the 744, I wanted to book a Seat Plus on the upperdeck. Air France website says its reserved for Elite Members and Elite Plus get those seats for free.

The lady on the phone says thats not true, everybody needs to pay for the seats and they can't book them for me. Since the computer doesn't give me acces to the Seat Plus, there is nothing anybody can do.

I tell here this is wrong, since I worked hard for my status and now should have the benefits of it...but to bad for me. anything else sir? pfffff

Is is true that FB Silvers can't book the Seat Plus seats in advance? Or do Gold and Platinum members have the same problems with these seats on the 744 flights?

Except: the Air France website specifically states that only FB Gold and FB Platinum have access to Seat Plus for free.

As an FB Silver, you will have to pay.

Rates
This service is available to you at the following rates:

* €50 per seat and per flight if the duration of your flight is less than or equal to 9 hours**,
* €70 per seat and per flight if the duration of your flight is greater than 9 hours.

It is free of charge for Flying Blue Gold and Platinum members who identify themselves with their Flying Blue card number when purchasing their ticket.

5.2. Customers holding Air France and KLM Flying Blue Gold or Platinum cards, or Club 2000 cards, can reserve a Seat, free of charge, by entering their card number at the moment of purchase of their e-ticket. If they do not identify themselves at the moment of purchase of their ticket, they can reserve a Seat at the present defined price.

Where, on the Air France website, did you see that it said it was free for Elite and Elite Plus members? It has nothing to do with SkyTeam Elite status, as far as I can see, but refers only to FB Gold/Platinum/Club 2000.

I'm sorry my last post was a bit weird maybe, I didn't say that I read it was free for Silvers.

I said/meant the seats were reserved for Elite Members and free for Gold/Platinum.

But I can't seem to select Seat Plus seats at all and the woman on the phone told me to wait for OLCI....just like everbody else...

Oh - sorry - I misunderstood.

If it's not working at the time of booking the ticket, you can always go back and reserve a "Seat Plus" seat later via the Manage My Booking functionality (https://www.airfrance.us/cgi-bin/AF/US/en/local/process/standard/rebooking/SearchPnrRbkAction.do?) on the Air France website. (presumably that's not also broken! Or won't be for the entire period between now and OLCI).

But the seats aren't reserved for Elite or Elite plus members - anyone has access to them on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're Gold or Plat, you can have them for free - but everyone else will have to pay.

Of course, this doesn't mean that everyone who ends up sitting in one of these seats paid - if the last guy to check in finds that the only seats available are the Seat Plus seats, then I doubt that AF would force him to pay to sit in the only available seats...

Ok....hmm....I thought that upperdeck only became availible at OLCI for everybody.

But it doesn't matter anymore ;) I found a date which provided availibility in PE for only €300,- more then Eco... :D
