Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Mileage Reduction - No Explanation!

Hi there!

I logged onto my FC account last June to try and book some reward flights when I had a little over 252,000 miles in my account. As per usual with the reward process I had to phone up and log on many times so I am 100% positive that my balance was over 252k. I was not successful booking the reward flights, so no change to my balance.

Fast forward to today. I simultaneously logged on and rang up to book a reward flight to Sydney (again, no availability, but that's another whinge) and both the CSR and the website told me my balance was 226k miles. I checked in the activity log and there has been no changes except for the occasional 1k for a Hertz rental.

I asked the CSR about it and she couldn't see any transactions since then removing the miles so she couldn't do anything about it, and said it was like ringing up your bank saying that you're sure you had 300 quid more than that so please put it in my account. So what the heck happened to the other 26k miles? 26k is a LOT of flights in Y!

Any ideas welcomed.

Perhaps ask for an audit of your account?

I once asked BA for a list of all transactions I had on my exec club account...
I got all the transactions as well as EVERY time I logged in over a few years... was about 500 pages long :/

Cant advise on the shortfall of miles.....but with regards to your booking to SYD, have you tried booking 2 separate flights?, one into HKG and the other from HKG, it has worked for me in the past

I asked that and was told that ALL miles on my account are valid until the expiration date on my account, i.e. 3 years from the last time miles were added, so a simple accrual of 1k for a Hertz rental extends the validity again.

Thanks to some helpful advice from some people on this forum I was able to fully review my accrued miles on my FC account and I found out something a lot of people already knew... That I'm an idiot. There were no missing miles and the only deductions were for upgrades/rewards that I had booked and used.

Sometimes you get to the bottom of these things and find your own dumb face looking back up at you...
