India-based Airlines - RJ to 9W interline: is it reliable and what's my limit?

Later this year, I'll be connecting RJ to 9W at DEL on two separate tickets. From what I've read, I'd be able to show both tickets to the Crown Class agent in Amman and he/she will tag them through to my final destination, KTM.

My questions are: (a) is this pretty reliable? When they interline, do they typically get it right...especially when two separate ticket numbers are involved? (b) Am I limited to a single 20kg piece because of the Jet limit? I assume that RJ Crown Class has higher limits, probably two pieces, etc.

The connection will be very early morning, plenty of time (2 hours) between flights, all in the same terminal at DEL. In theory, this should be about as easy as it gets.

My hunch is that we'll end up traveling at 20kg or less anyway. Two of us, two large backpacks, don't want them too heavy anyway. I'm just wondering how diligent we have to be about making sure we're not overweight in Amman. And whether the interlining thing is as simple as it sounds.

(On a different thread about immigration, I realize we should pay the extra $28 for double-entry permits in case something goes wrong and we have to go through immigration in Delhi. We plan to spend time in India later in the trip. But I'm hoping the AMM-DEL-KTM travels will be seamless.)

not sure about the interline & baggage limit but you should definitely get the double entry permit....

You need a multiple entry Indian visa and not a 'permit'. The Visa on Arrival plans did not materialize (at least not for US nationals), so you need to get a visa before arriving into DEL. And I would not risk 2 hour transit in DEL on 2 separate tickets without an Indian visa. Something goes wrong and you are sc..wed.

He needs both a multiple entry visa and a permit. The multiple entry visa allows multiple entries that are at least 2 months apart. The additional permit allows the visits to be less than 2 months apart.

I will have both a tourist visa and a multiple-entry permit. According to the Indian consulate information in the U.S., I can acquire both with my U.S. passport at a consulate here in the U.S. (The multiple-entry permit is an extra $28 above a regular tourist visa.)

We are planning on visiting India for a week after the Nepal visit is done, so the $28 is simply a bit of insurance against irrops, a failure of RJ to interline, Jet going bankrupt, whatever. I was going to have to go to an Indian consulate here in the U.S. and get a tourist visa no matter what.

In any case, my main question is whether checking in, say, a 25kg bag with RJ in Amman will create problems in DEL when the bag is being transferred to 9W.
