A freind of mine will be staying at the Holiday Inn Lugano. Has anyone stayed here before?
Rudi, do you have any impressions of this holiday inn?
I would appreciate any feed back.

sorry - I have no idea (yet) that there is a Holiday Inn in Lugano (probably can't be a new property, must be a "takeover" of an old property. Is it in Lugano Paradiso? - then it would be very outside, away from the lake, good for one short night only on the road).
I will try to get informations from business colleagues after this weekend (I don't stay at Holiday Inns - sometimes, in Bremen, at a Crown Plaza. I don't even have a Holiday-Inn booklet handy).

The address is Via Geretta 15, 6902 Lugano- Paradiso.
I think it used to be called the Admiral Hotel.
------------------
I know the location (ok, 10' seaside walk to the center, or 2-bus-stations). Haven't been inside and didn't know it changed ownership/franchise-partnership.
And what I said about Paradiso location in my first posting was wrong - I had something else in mind.
Stayed at this property last week. Even though the city of Lugano is a jewel, the hotel is poor with worn carpet, missing light bulbs, etc. You can take the bus #2 from the railway station and get off at Geretta. It is a 10 min ride. The hotel is right by the bus stop. The hotel is ideally located within walking distance to the lake, several restaurants and a few supermarkets. I would love to return to Lugano, but I am not sure if I want to stay at this hotel. I wish there were an SPG property in Lugano.

Wow- a 10 year gap between postings, don't see that too often :)
Trip Advisor reviews say pretty much the same thing, although the managers reply to one reviewer left the impression that the hotel may be doing the big HI reno to the new brand/image this winter.
I hope so, I am going to Switzerland next year and between HI, Marriott and Starwood I am still not finding hotels that are on my route. I was excited about Lugano til I read about the property, and at this point I wouldn't stay there even for free.

Kudos for finding this old thread... ;)
Been there last year and IMO this hotel seriously needs renovation. Room was a bit tiny, furniture was very old and the paint looked old and a bit dirty. IIRC the bed was a bit small and of poor quality.
Location is quite good and quiet and in walking distance (15-20 minutes) to the city centre.
