Air New Zealand Air Points - Status points after rerouting to origin

Hi All

Yesterday I was doing AKL-WHK return. The AKL-WHK got all the way to WHK, had 2 aborted landings in the fog and then turned around and flew to HLZ (which was closed) before going all the way back to AKL. The poor passengers were then put on a bus to go to WHK, which I declined as I was already home. The return flight WHK-AKL was cancelled.

NZ has rebooked me a return flight to WHK at some future (unknown) date (although I have to pay any fare difference, which will be material as 1 leg was a $6 GAS fare). Although I have no idea when/if I will ever go to WHK again (in the next 12 months at least).

My question is, though, do I get my 8 Status Points for the aborted flight? I did board the plane, flew all the way there (and back), but never actually arrived at WHK. Or do I need to wait until I take the rebooked flights?

I could just ask the Premium Desk, but I feel I've annoyed them enough today getting the flights rebooked as well as reclaiming all the status points from my other four flights yesterday that were not credited.

Try putting a manual claim in on myairnz and see what happens.

I believe there is a term called "original route credit"..... But not sure with NZ's system..... I guess all you can do is keep annoying them.....

If you'd taken the bus to WHK then certainly you could get a manual claim for original routing credit.

Since NZ has rebooked you then I don't think you'll get credit for this aborted flight as you'll get the credit on the rebooked date instead. It doesn't hurt to ask, but I'd expect no to be the answer (unless say this was the status points you'd need to requalify and your qualification period has now ended).
