South - Louisville - Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott?

Hello! I've been staying with SPG properties for the last while, but my next assignment will be in Louisville where the location is not very convenient!
I am going to switch to either Hyatt, Hilton, or the Marriott. Any recommendations?

Based on the current promotion - I'm thinking that the Megasbonus for the Marriott properties is the most attractive. However, I heard that the Hilton properties are excellent and well-dispersed globally.

Thoughts? Recs? :-)

Thanks!

You could sign up for Hyatt Diamond trial and their promotion if you can squeeze in the total nights needed by the end of the promotion.

If you are looking for global footprint, both Hilton and Marriott will have you covered. I tend to like the full-service Marriotts more than full service Hilton's, but that a personal choice. Hilton's current promos 1k bonus points a night + double dip triple US air miles (1500 a stay) is pretty good too.

PS: Marriott currently has a Taste of gold/platinum promo and Hilton gives away complimentary gold (see Viewfromthewing.com)

Hope this helps.

I'd forego all of them and stay at the 21c Museum Hotel :-)

I've heard lovely things about 21c :-) Unfortunately the budget does not allow :(

I'd def qual with the Hyatt challenge - only 12 nights in 60 days. That's definitely doable for me.
I'm poking to see which offers the small extra goodies like breakfast and lounge. If all things being equal, it sounds like Marriott is the smart choice - they will match status as well. Then it's a toss-up between Hilton and Hyatt

Why is the Sheraton not convenient? It's literally a 5 minute drive from that Sheraton property to the Hyatt downtown. If you prefer to walk, it's doable or you can probably get a ride into downtown Louisville from one of the friendly staff folks. (I don't work for them, so call in advance to make sure but I know they've done it for other guests.)

The Sheraton is a good property with great views of the Ohio River and a good restaurant selection nearby and in the hotel (Bristol is great).

I have stayed at the Seelbach, a Hilton property. It is a great old downtown hotel.

That is if you like old and downtown.

I won't have a car in Louisville, so I'll be walking to and from the hotel and my client site, which is downtown.

Thanks for your feedback! I think I'll be staying at the Hilton, but I'll report back!

first week was spent at the Sheraton. Underwhelmed with the facility - but my main point of SPG comparison is the Westin/Sheraton Calgary - they may be higher tier hotels. Staying at the Hyatt next...will report back!

Since this thread is specific to one geography, we'll move this over to the South forum for further discussion. Thanks! :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

I have looked many places, but I am not sure there's a real consensus about where to stay in downtown Louisville. My wife are driving through for a couple nights on a road trip into Bourbon country.

We are Hilton Gold members and have reserved a room with a requested Exec Level upgrade at the Seelbach (~$170/night), but the 21C (~$284) seems well regarded by many. Is it worth the additional cost to switch to a room there?

I heard that the Hilton is beautiful. I've been at the Sheraton for the past month or so, I quite like it. It's a nice stroll across the bridge, or if I am in a rush they have a free shuttle to downtown as well as free shuttles to and from the airport. Good, friendly service.
Once it gets super hot, I may end up switching to the Hilton for a bit just out of convenience.

Just an update. I've since switched to the Marriott & the Hilton - with a bias towards the Marriott. The air quality @ the Sheraton Louisville was not so great and I feel like it was starting to get to me. Great service at the Sheraton though, will miss the people!

I like that Sheraton, have stayed there many times, and do not know what you are finding wrong with the air. The people really are great and the Bristol removes any thought of going off property many nights.

However, whenever I do stay in downtown Lou I almost always opt for the Hyatt. I guess that is a habit since I have stayed there dozens of times since it was opened in the late 70s. However, it is quite modern, the rooms are sizable, and with a recent renovation that was very well conceived and maintained. Another plus is that it is the only place with laptop safes in every room. As a matter of fact, it may be the only place in town with that feature.

Stayed at the Hyatt and did not like it. Room was very noisy both with over guests and maintenance. Staff was not very friendly, room just didn't feel good.

But the rooms are so small and it is difficult to turn around in the bathrooms. I love the place but I cannot live with it anymore.
