Has there ever been a Vancouver DO or Seattle mini university? I know about the Chicago event in October but wonder if there's enough interest from the west coast?

Has there ever been a Vancouver DO or Seattle mini university?I don't believe there has been a Vancouver Do in quite some time.

Seattle has been active with Do's but to my knowledge they were social events, in other words, they haven't been a Seminar Do or University Do.

Where do you want to do this?

I remember flying up for one, but that's probably been 10 years now. Tropical Flyer, Ken HAAmer and the late Nathan Detroit were there off the top of my head--we had a pretty good sized group. We did a day trip off to some local park with rope bridges (not the one you have to pay to get into). We had one event at a brewery restaurant along the waterfront that I've been back to, and the opening event was in a restaurant by the cruise terminal. I'm surprised there haven't been more Vancouver events over the years.

I'd be interested in flying up subject to award availability and my being around.

Given I'm now living in YVR (until 05/2013), I'd love to see a DO up here!!

I'd love to attend a mini university or seminar on mileage running & fuel dumping and would be happy to help organize the event/venue. It would need someone who knows what they're doing to arrange & organize speakers etc. Vancouver is a beautiful city and it's easy to show off.

I would fly out as well depending on timing of the do.

You could show it off without getting too organized. Start with soliciting interest, as boxo has done with a possible Monterey FT Do, (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/communitybuzz/1320556-would-there-interest-fall-2012-monterey-ca-do.html) and go from there. It can start small and grow if there's enough interest and surely a city like YVR can get a few bodies out if little old YEG can field 10 in the depths of winter. :p

I'm here to lend any moral and logistical support I can should someone in the lower mainland want to set something up in what really is a beautiful, scenic city. :)

You could show it off without getting too organized. Start with soliciting interest....excellent suggestion, a first Do (when there hasn't been one for awhile), can be as easy as having drinks at a local happy hour joint or grabbing a burger/sandwich somewhere.

I would be interested in a Vancouver BC Do. Particularly in the fall.

In the summer I am doing a mini RTW so no time.

The main reason for me is because I live there.
But, even if I didn't, I think it is a nice place to visit.

Sounds good to me, let's talk. I have the perfect venue to hold the event, a movie prop warehouse that is 1 block from Skytrain and is just so cool......I realise this would be a huge undertaking and don't mind the work but need some major input from the been there done that crowd. Anyone else?

A year in advance is lots of lead time but I was just trying to see if previous poster really meant 11-13 March this year or next or whether it was a typo and they maybe meant May instead.

I'll be arriving at YVR (+3) the evening of 6/23/2012 and the 4 of us will be departing on a cruise to Alaska out of Vancouver the afternoon of 6/25, in case anyone want to organize a meetup while we are there.

I'd attend a YVR Do if I'm in town around that time. (or at least, on the continent)

Sorry but you lost me. You posted on 15 March that you're available dates in YVR were 11-13 March 2012, dates already passed, so unless you got the wrong set of dates how would that work?

Although dates have to exclude most of August, next week, the first 2 weeks of December, the last week of September, the 3rd week of October, and Feb 2-24 2013 (if we make it there)

I think that'd be great ... I don't know if I'm not home much this spring though ... likely most weekends in March, but Jan/Feb is a bit more dicey, won't know the schedules for each month until the last week of the month before. :rolleyes:

LOL it appears the other thread has more traction and we've been hijacked on dates! Oh well, hopefully it goes well and a February or March one will be in the works later.
