Unfortunately, the "instant" (where available) Y/B upgrades are only available to Silver and up US DM members.

Those fares aren't even a good deal. I've seen both non-refundable and even flexible F for less than the instant upgrade (full Y) price.

This has got me wondering about who the market is for these instant upgradable Y fares .... My thought has always been that it is for folks who work for moralistic organizations that won't pay for an F fare no matter how cheap it is, but don't seem to keep track of money enough to question an overpriced Y fare. I mean, I can imagine circumstances where one would want to ride F but was just too tired of writing justifying memos. Just sayin' ....

This is exactly why I buy the Y/B fares. Certain clients won't pay for F, but if I have coach fare, no matter how expensive, it's not an issue...
