Caribbean - Puerto Rico -First Visit - Have a few questions

I will be traveling with 3 friends to SJU in a week or so. We are staying at the Rio Mar and we are going on a deep sea fishing trip out of Suan Juan Bay Marina. What is best way to get there? Should we rent car for day, cab or something else? Looking for value as well as ease of travel.

We also want to travel into Old San Juan for half a day - would love transportation suggestions for that as well.

Four girlfriends traveling on a no husbands, no kids trip...Anything that is a must see/do/eat in Puerto Rico? Suggestions welcome!

Also, can you give me the 411 on customs into/out of SJU?

If you're flying from within the US, it's a completely domestic flight. No customs, no immigration. Just arrive and go on your way. On the way out though, your checked bags will have to go through Agriculture, but that's a quick scan.

As far as transportation goes, for value, rent a car. A cab from the Rio Mar - San Juan is not going to be cheap.

Looks like the Rio Mar is around 1/2 an hour or so outside San Juan (45 mins Old San Juan) so would recommend hiring a car as well. Usually costs up to $20 for a cab from the airport to Condado and you're 2-3x further away so close to $60 each way I would guess.

Going to rent a car for two days - only 60.00 with Enterprise and they will have it on site at the resort. Thanks for the tips and suggestions

Oh, and if you are into food, don't forget to visit Guavate up in the hills about an hour outside San Juan. Absolutely the best lechon!
