I am heading to the Martinque for 3 nights end of March, having just obtained CC gold and many stays with triple points meaning I have some 300k points to burn :D
When booking I got all sorts of upgrade options ( 4 tickboxes ) but some had preices beside them.
I am new to this so am checking if ticking any particular box precludes you from being upgraded or as I suspect am I better just turning up and seeing what they give me, if anything
Also had option of Lexington, but Broadway much nearer where we want to stay and lets you add a child to booking for Martinique, Lexington doesnt.
Grateful for any comments

It really depends on the hotel if they upgrade you (you can always ask for one) but booking a particular room type doesn't impact your upgrade status...but, if you do get an upgrade, it's usually one level up, so if you're looking for a particular room type, then you might want to book one level below and take your chances. Standard room to jacuzzi suite might be tough, but standard room to a regular suite/floor on a higher level might be possible on your Gold status.

Both of these properties consistently upgrade me as a CC Gold when I book the cheapest room (e.g., "petite") available. I get suites almost every time at the Lex, very large rooms at the Martinique. Unless you have a specific need that you don't want to risk losing if you don't get upgraded, I would just book a cheap room and hope for the upgrade.

the rooms are points 50k x 3 nights, rather than cash
do you have to tell them you are gold to activate the upgrades as in europe ?

It is always a good idea to ask and remember them

I think is is tacky to ask for upgrades or to "remind" the staff of my status when checking in, so I never do it. The only status-related perk that I specifically request at any hotel is late check-out when I know I will need it.

I usually try not to ask, especially if I'm traveling alone. If I'm traveling with someone/family and they don't upgrade me, I simply ask if they have my concierge number on the reservation for stay credit and hope they get the hint and upgrade me on their own.

Just an update on how the stay went
Got room upgrade without asking, penthouse suite 17th floor martinique right in centre of everything in manhattan.
I asked them about upgrade, that were mentioned online, free breakfast, lounge access, and so on, they literally could not believe I asked about free breakfast and didnt seem to know what I meant by club carlson gold although they had posters up everywhere.
Anyway they flatly turned down the breakfast request, and as for the lounge, I asked about it and the lady said they closed it down a year ago, there is no lounge as such, there is a room, with a TV, a restroom and ice machine, but no drinks or food.
So nice hotel, nice room, but the benefits outside the room upgrade are zero.

Thank you for your review.
As a Club Carlson Gold Elite you do not get free breakfast. As a Concierge Elie you do.
Upgrades are granted upon availability. Your was quite generous.
The website does mention a lounge, but not with drinks or food.

yes for sure I normally stay crowne plaza / holiday inn group and this was the major difference, having tried club carlson with this triple point promotion.
brilliant to get nights in centres of manhattan, 3 of them in a penthouse, no question, and definitely not complaining one jot, very happy indeed.
I got a late check out as well 1230 instead of 1100 which allowed us to do the statue of liberty tour in the morning on our last day, so thumbs up for virtually all, except I felt misguided, but I can see it was me who was misunderstanding and expecting same as crowne plaza, which isnt reasonable of me as they are strong in different areas clearly.
Now with triple points gone, I have to go back to holiday inns I think, as reward nights are the best there.

When booking the Radisson Martinique standard room using Cash and Points, I get a choice of three room types:
1 Double bed
1 Queen bed
1 King bed
Usually I'd assume that the King bedroom would be biggest, but if they're all the same size room, then I might go smaller and have more space around the bed. Thoughts/Experiences? I'm currently CC Gold, so will hope for an upgrade, but of course want to secure a better room from the start.
Thanks!

Well no replies yet, but I do have another question so maybe the thread will get bumped! :)
I am looking at the hotel website and the fitness room looks decent. I don't need a full gym, but cardio equipment that works and a few weights are always good to have. Anyone with experience in the gym at the Martinique? Thanks!

Last time I stayed in the Martinique was in May for 5 days booked just on points. The room we had was small but I guess it's NYC after all. After the booking received the possibility for upgrade options where I picked the Suite for $100 for the 5 days. Our flight from Honululu got cancelled so we didn't make it until a day later and it seems they messed up the booking a bit, so we got a normal room with a King bed and as an apology free breakfast every day and 12 drink vouchers.
So can't tell you anything about the gym but the bar is OK, nothing special though but nice to wind down an eventful day in the city.

Just got back from three nights at the Martinique - booked with points + cash, as I found this to be the best overall value.
Showed my CC concierge card at check-in to help them find the reservartion, and got an upgrade to top floor (PH) very large room (needed twin beds, so this might have reduces the options available), as well as free breakfast all days, and two drinks vouchers per person per day.
Not much to say about the hotel, definately a bit worn, but worked out nicely. As mentioned - too bad the lounge is no longer anything but a group of sofas.
