MTA Police Seeking Public's Help to Identify Man Wanted
For Assaulting and Possibly Abducting Woman at Ronkonkoma Station

The MTA Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a man witnesses say assaulted and abducted a woman at the LIRR's Ronkonkoma Station on Sunday, March 4, at approximately 7:40 a.m.

In this surveillance video, the man police are seeking is seen knocking down a woman who had just exited a LIRR train. The two then exchanged words inside a shop before he forced her to leave the store. Once outside, he again knocked her down and dragged her off camera. According to witnesses, after the video ends, the man placed the victim over his shoulder and threw her in the back seat of a nearby car against her will. The suspect then drove away in the direction of the Long Island Expressway.

The vehicle is a light silver 4-door Nissan Altima made in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Anyone with information about this incident, in particular the identity of either the suspect or the victim, is asked to call the MTA Police at (718) 361-2207. The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls can be anonymous, and all information will be kept strictly confidential.

The suspect is an African-American male aged 25-30, approximately 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10, weighing 185 to 210 lbs. He had crew-cut hair or was bald, and was seen wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and sneakers.

Case: 12-3077

BUt either way, it's horrible. I hope they find her safe and sound, and throw him in a cell with a big guy named Bubba.

Also, some good news apparently:

Newsday: Officials: Woman on Ronkonkoma LIRR video 'safe' (http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/officials-woman-on-ronkonkoma-lirr-video-safe-1.3595898)
A woman shown on MTA surveillance video apparently being assaulted and abducted last week at the Ronkonkoma LIRR train station "has come forward and is safe," MTA police said in a statement released late Sunday.

MTA has also updated the YouTube page indicating that the woman "has come forward and is safe".

She's not pressing charges (http://www.longislandpress.com/2012/03/12/woman-in-ronkonkoma-attack-safe-cops-say/), which means she truly isn't safe.

From watching the video, I suspected that this might not be random. :(
