IIRC (its been a little while since I last visited Singapore) if you clear customs, you are only allowed one open pack. If you just transit w/o clearing customs there is no limit I'm aware of. If you are in transit or leaving Singapore you can buy cartons duty free for cheap at Changi duty free shops, but you cannot buy duty free before entering Singapore.

If you don't declare.... the fine is very expensive if you get caught. If you are staying in Singapore for a few days before heading home probably best to buy in Changi duty free shop before departing. Probably 2-3 times the price of cigarettes in Indonesia but still probably WAY cheaper than Australia.

Edited.... re read your post. "Flying DPS SIN for five days then CGK SYD"

Buy at CGK

There is no duty free allowance for Cigarettes in Singapore. I got caught once about 5 yearrs ago bringing in 200 duty free cigarettes. There was no fine but I had to pay the tax on them.

Cigarette cartons can be kept as left luggage airside on arrival in SIN and picked up when leaving SIN. You pay the "Loose" rate.

Great advice above, yes leave them in left luggage, have done this many times. I live in Jakarta, you got to love 12 USD per carton. I once got busted bringing in two cartons to SIN, fine + tax, cost me well over 350 USD. AND, somehow, I got searched each time I entered SIN after for about two years.

I'll concur with teh above suggestion. Leave one bag, full of whatever goods you don't want to take with you, airside.

There is also a pre-customs bond (bag hold?) somewhere that was mentioned in a thread on exactly the same circumstances within the last two years.

Awesome. Thank you

I tried to find what the tax was but could not see it.

Will store a bag.

Knew this forum would have the answers.
