Hello All. I will be arriving at the LCC terminal on the same day that I have an outbound flight on UA. I get to SIN early in the morning at will leave late in the evening. I understand that all connecting passengers at the LCC terminal have to clear immigration regardless of destination. What I want to know is, if I clear immigration in the LCC terminal, go over to the lounge at T3 (I am *G) and take a shower, can I then go back out of immigration and travel back in to the city, only to return later in the evening for my flight.

I'd like to take a shower, but I'm not going to stay at the airport for 14 hours in order to do so.

Any feedback helps. Thanks!

Officially is it legal? No
Will you be stopped? Probably not, and even if you do get caught, then being honest will take you a lot further than being dishonest
Big Issue? Where do you plan on getting the UA boarding pass, and note UA flights from SIN leave in the morning not at the night, they get in at night though

Unless you are travelling in *A business class I'm afraid there will be no lounge with shower facilities for you to use. SQ's KrisFlyer Gold lounge does afaik not have a shower. However, there are shower facilities and even a swimming pool in T1 and they are quite inexpensive.

Officially is it legal? NoWow...I never realised that...I did this once when I entered one terminal, went over to a shop in another terminal to buy some things, went back landside, crossed over to my original terminal and checked the purchases into my check-in luggage, before then going back to airside again.

Was funny filling out the immigration cards each time!

My purchases contained liquids though so I could not take them on board the aircraft (and none of those sealed bags were available to use).

Maybe im missing something, but why is not legal if you cross immigration at the LCC after filling out the proper landing cards and again cross immigration at T3?

You effectively get unlimited duty-free allowance this way.;) You are legally leaving and returning to Singapore multiple times without actually leaving.

You would stlll have to produce a BP to buy duty-free. :)

You can use the same BP multiple times. You get a duty-free allowance each time you enter Singapore.@:-)

You can leave the LCC and enter T3, but you can't exit T3 then and re-enter. The duty free allowance is alright, because once you "leave" Singapore, when it says how many days away, and where you came from etc. you have to write 0 and Singapore respectively.

I do believe I read somewhere that access to post immigration is for bona fide travelers, and not just for anyone.

The first problem you may have to solve is to check-in and recieve the boarding pass. You should check with UA first if they allow early check-in.
No BP no way to get to the lounge, the will refuse to let you enter the immigration area and exit SIN.

While it may theoretically be possible to re-enter Singapore unlimited, the immigration officer may ask questions if you enter into Singapore the second time on the same at the day. He will be able to see where you entered and what time. The explanation with the lounge would do it IMHO.
A third entry I doubt thats possible without a very very good explanation and I would say they gonna check thorougly.

Firstly, all UA flights leave SIN in the early morning. Not late in the evening!

Again, what flight are you taking? You may go into SIN, and unless you have a boarding pass for the said flight, you cannot enter the departure hall. If you do, fine. But then again, unless you are in Business Class, you will be confined to the Krisflyer Gold lounge for *G members.

I'd like to take a shower, but I'm not going to stay at the airport for 14 hours in order to do so.

You may be able to go in and out the same day.. just a simple, explanation to say that you checked in and then realised that you had a long wait and decided to go into town for some shopping. Singapore immigration is one of the easiest to pass through in the world - provided you tell them the truth (more or less).

2 issues.
The LCC terminal is not connected to terminals 1, 2 and 3 so you can not roam around before passing immigration.

To go to any other terminal you have to pass immigration at the LCC and pass immigration again airside at the desired terminal. To do that you need to have a valid boarding pass. Home printed boarding passes need to be verified by the airline at check in with a stamp. No stamp no entry airside, no airline issued BP also no entry airside.

The next point as mentioned above, not all lounges have showers. You will not have access to the SQ lounge with a *hold card unless flying in business.

When any flights arrive at LCC, all paasengers must clear immigration, even if the connecting flight is at LCC as there is no transfer desk at LCC airside.

The issue is this, depending on your connecting flight. And as you mentioned, you have a connecting flight on UA late at night, well, for your information, there are no UA flights departing SIN in the evening. The only flights on UA out of SIN are to HKG and NRT and they depart 5.30am and 7.30am, respectvely.

In any event, if your flight is on any of these two UA flights, well, you are OUT OF LUCK. You have no way of getting into airside without a departure boarding pass. UA flights out of SIN do not have Online Check-in or early check-in as they require each passengers to be interviewed by security personnel. And this will only happen when the check-in counter opens at 3.30am.

Says who??? The regulation for staying at airside and entering airside is you must have a valid departure BP. You are allowed to exit and re-enter multiple time as long as you are a bona fide traveller.

Unless you are travelling in *A business class I'm afraid there will be no lounge with shower facilities for you to use. SQ's KrisFlyer Gold lounge does afaik not have a shower. However, there are shower facilities and even a swimming pool in T1 and they are quite inexpensive.

Not unless if OP also has PriorityPass and could use the other lounges.

There is no such thing as unlimited duty-free allowance. The regulation for duty-free allowance is for each arriving pax on each arriving flight. The arriving BP and passport number will be captured in the system so multiple-use of BP and passoprt to purchase duty-free will not be possible. The only way to bring in excess duty-free is if you bring them in from other cities (hand carried or checked) OR if you use a departure BP and then clear immigration and custom, then, it is possible. As always, this is illegal and when caught will be fined.

Good info, and thanks for everyone's input.

To clear things up, I'm actually travelling on ANA Metal, and the flight departs around 0030 or 0045.

The consensus all around, though is no shower facilities with just a *G card? I'm also a UA Club member.

No, but there are other items you can use to get access to showers at Changi airport (unfortunately only airside). The easiest to obtain of these items is $8.56 SGD or a credit card with at least this amount of available credit on it.

Showers (independently operated) is $8 per entry now. There are no showers at the *G lounges (except SQ's SKL which admits J, F and SQ PPS only).

Shower info http://www.changiairport.com/at-changi/leisure-indulgences/shower-fitness-and-spa-services

Crossing immigration wont be a problem, but might raise a few eyebrows and questions from both immigration and customs.

I would suggest getting a day room at the airport http://www.changiairport.com/at-changi/leisure-indulgences/rest-areas

Or utilize a baggage service until check in is ready http://www.changiairport.com/at-changi/facilities-and-services/baggage-services

Or check in early and leave the airport for the day.

Ideas for thought.

SQ's KrisFlyer Gold lounge does afaik not have a shower.

Shower? They don't even have their own toilet like many other lounges.

The only difference between the KrisFlyer Gold lounge and the public airside lounge is you get a bit of free food and drink, and a free glance at the local newspapers.
