Qatar Airways Privilege Club - New destinations -- Yangon, Belgrade, Kilimanjaro, Baghdad, Erbil

They just announced these. Nice news, especially RGN, four years after they dropped the route.

They didn't say whether these routes would be non-stop -- I would be surprised if EBL and BGW weren't together, and I would only assume that JRO will be a tag to either NBO or DAR, and the others might be tag-ons, at first, too. Still, all of these places are difficult to get to from DOH (and everywhere else), so even a one-stop direct option would be great.

A319 from Doha???

Yikes. A bit farther than CPH or ARN, where they fly narrow-bodies. OSL is a bit farther, but it seems that they fly the A330 there? So this is probably the longest route with a single-aisle aircraft.

In business I presume it would be the USA F class domestic style seating- in which case hard to get a good nights sleep.

Qatar Airways started that route back in 2005 using A319s! (the same ones that are going to restart it some 7.5 years later; albeit with PTVs now).

That flight was upgraded to an A300 later on, but then dropped.

The business on an A319 is just like the ones on the A330, but on the A320 its those dreaded cradle seats.

Apparently WAW could be up next. ^

There is talk of Legia Warsaw football club welcoming a new investor/sponsor from Qatar, with the speculation currently focusing on an airline from that country (hint, hint). :)

It's about time KLM gets some competition at JRO (Kilimanjaro). Nice route addtion and one can use United miles on QR to get there.

...and one can use United miles on QR to get there.

Unfortunately, this, all too soon, is no longer going to be the case.

Well, aster and others who have predicted this are correct. Starting in December.

(It was actually announced on 08/15, but seemed to escape notice here.)

Agreed, but the United option is gone :(
