I have a trip to Malaysian Borneo planned from the UK via AMS and Kuala Lumpur. The last leg, to Borneo from KL, is on Malaysian.
Will I be awarded miles and level flights for the Malaysian leg? Can I use the lounge in KL when I'm switching airlines (I'm Gold). I have a feeling that there are codeshares of different types?
Thanks for any help.

From the Malaysia Airlines FB partner page:
*You cannot earn or spend Miles on the following flights:
* All flights from Malaysia to France and vice versa.
* All flights from Malaysia to Italy and vice versa.
* All charter flights (flights which are not scheduled).
* All domestic flights in Malaysia operated by Malaysia Airlines, MAS Wings and Firefly.
However, on the following code-share routes you can earn and spend Miles:
* Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Penang (PEN) and vice versa.
* Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Langkawi (LGW) and vice versa.
* Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Kota Kinabali (BKI) and vice versa.
Flights booked under an MH code will earn Award Miles only (subject to the above limitations).
If the flights are booked under a KL code, they will earn both Level Miles and Award Miles.
Again, if the flight has a KL code, you will be able to use the lounge in KLIA if you show your Flying Blue Gold card (you must have the card).
If your flight has an MH code, you will not be able to use the lounge in KLIA using your Flying Blue Gold status (I was turned away last month).

Many thanks for the reply.
Looks like I'm out of luck. My flight is KL to Labuan, and it's on n MH code. :(
Thanks again for your help.

Which code is it then? MASwings?
And if you're FB Elite+ you're allowed to use the plaza premium lounge or the MH Golden Lounge?

As above, Ralph, it's an MH flight code on my booking details.

It is the plaza premium lounge.

But it has to be ahead of a flight with a KL code, right?
Or could you access the Plaza Premium lounge with a KL Skyteam Elite Plus card and an MH-coded (and operated) flight?

Even it's KL-coded, since it's not operated by SkyTeam, access to the lounge will be refused. I just got this reply from the customer service.

My advice would be to check at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Malaysia.
There does appear to be an arrangement in Kuala Lumpur that allows all passengers travelling on KL-coded flights (whether operated by KL or by MH) into this lounge (if entitled to on the basis of FB status and/or holding a J ticket).
This is because KL places its code on all services operated on KUL-AMS regardless of whether KL or MH is the operating carrier, and it would thus be unfair to discriminate between those holding KL-coded tickets on the basis of the operating carrier.

Fair or not, this is house rules: http://klmf.ly/PhAoKK
Additionally, I'm flying KUL-AKL, not KUL-AMS.
I will try anyway, but I guess I will be admitted only if the lounge staff makes a mistake.

No-one ever said this was a documented exception/benefit.
However, in this thread and/or the other one you bumped, others have reported gaining admission the Plaza Premium Lounge in KUL on KL-coded MH segments. My guess is that only Flying Blue status (rather than status in any other SkyTeam program) would be the only one accepted here, i.e. that it's a special exception for KL tickets and KL frequent flyers.
Please do come back and let us know your experience once you have taken your trip.

I didn't actually see people reporting facts they've gained access, only stating it will be possible.
I will definitely come back in December after my flight and report the experience.

Hmmm. FWIW, I did gain access to the lounge in KUL (as FB Gold) when travelling KUL-SYD, and KUL-AMS, with both flights KL-coded, MH-operated. However, that was a number of years ago, so the programme rules may have changed since then. It would be interesting to hear from someone with more recent experience.

Hmmm. This certainly used to be the case, as there was one KL and one MH flight in each direction each day, and each flight carried both codes. However, KL have recently added an additional flight 3 times a week (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/klm-flying-dutchman/1350923-klm-increases-capacity-south-east-asia-kul-bkk-nrt.html) (KL811/812) and I can't see any sign of this new flight carrying an MH code yet. That said, the longstanding AMS-KUL flights are run as a Joint Venture between KL and MH, so it would indeed seem rather strange to exclude pax from the lounge for some flights, and not others.
My advice would be to check at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Malaysia.
+1. The Premium Plaza lounge does actually have a web-page (http://www.plaza-network.com/index.php/locations/malaysia/kuala-lumpur.html), with contact details - but you're probably better off asking in person once you're there.

We were admitted to Premium Lounge in KLIA and got our boarding passes stamped for unlimited bar drinks.
Dragon took our card and went somewhere inside for a couple of minutes, however.
Reminder: it was MH-operated flight, but my flight was KL-coded. The route was KUL-AKL.
I asked KLM and received negative answer (http://www.facebook.com/KLM/posts/10151038359960773). However, we still tried and succeeded.
