Flying Blue (Air France, KLM, and Other Partners) - Trying to book an award ticket

Looking at burning some of my DL miles on AF trying to go to PPT in Feb of 2013. I know the booking window has not opened, but in just searching to see what the award level cost is, I can not find a business class award on the calender at all! Find plenty of coach, but nothing in the front. Am I missing something in my search or am I just screwed?

The AF award booking engine is rarely accurate. Plus if you have DL miles you need to call DL.

Yea, first you need to search to see if low level is available, then call DL. Otherwise if it is med or high, there is no availability to DL.

If the FB engine is "rarely accurate", I really don't want to know how you'd describe the DL award booking engine.

I have found it very fickle as well... but speaking to a human incurs a penalty fee, no?

Depends upon your status level.

their rule is 15 euros per flight for gold customers, but as mentioned if you describe your issue that you are seeking to book on line but the system wont let you then they waive that fee no problem.

generally both of these airlines are pretty hard in redeeming miles

The Delta award tickets have significantly lower fees than the AF counterparts... and sometimes for the exact same itinerary!

This is because DL doesn't collect YQ for DL/AF/KL flights if your itinerary originates in the US but does if it originates in Europe.
