South - Who's excited for JazzFest?

It's that time of year again when I hardly can contain the excitement about the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (www.nojazzfest.com), the premier music event in the country. For those of you thinking to yourself, "I'm not really into jazz," spend some time on the jazzfest website, see who's performing (Springstein, Eagles, Tom Petty, etc.), and then you'll see what you're missing!

(Those hundreds of names of performers beyond the headliners you don't recognize? I didn't recognize them either when I attended my first jazzfest 25 years ago. Now I know most of them!)

And although our very own Swag has not been going for quite as long as I have, his encyclopedic knowledge of all things Fest can be found here (http://jazzfest.swagland.com/).

Yup, I'm as excited as always. I think the lineup is terrific, not just the headliners, but the second tier out of town bands as well.

It's starting to look like a banner year for the fest, attendance-wise. A few of the VIP ticket offerings have sold out earlier than usual, and while flights are still affordable if you fly a couple of days early or later, flights on prime days (into MSY the day before, out the day after) are selling out or very expensive. Anyone planning to go should probably book flights now.

Fest tickets can always wait, since GA doesn't sell out. Hotels are tight, but things may ease in a few weeks as convention block deadlines pass.

In NOLA right now and will be going to the fest Saturday and Sunday. Cannot wait. Staying at the Sheraton.

BTW, if any FTer is in NOLA and need a room in the French quarter for Friday Apr 27th, PM my your cell. Some friends were going to use it to get out of their hole in the wall motel out in the middle of no where but they decided they did not want to move for 1 night and move back. Hate to see it go to waste.
