United Airlines recently introduced for million miles flyers to extend benefits to spouse/domestic partner. The spouse can enjoy the same level of frequent flyer status as the traveler. It was pretty easy and United confirmed my husband even though we don't share the same last name.
I'm having trouble with the hotels. We booked rewards nights at two SPG properties. I'm not with him because on traveling on business elsewhere. While he can stay at the hotels (his name added to the reservation), they don't extend any benefits. Maybe they don't see the need to.
It's also difficult with Hertz - they won't accept him on a rewards reservation. After my phone call yesterday, they handed him reluctantly the car key today.
How does it work for married couples (husband and wife)? Do they have the same challenges?
