Does the United use the same terminal with TK in IST? If I fly with UA to IST connected with a TK fly, do I have to go out of customers and security checking point? Many thanks!

CAlex Mar 5, 12, 8:08 am If your TK flight is international, then they use same terminal. Upon arrival just watch for the sign "Connecting Flights" and you will be in the main departure area within minutes of arrival. No security checkpoint required, just a simple BP check. Security is at the gate in IST, so you will clear that before your TK flight. ruoyu Mar 5, 12, 8:55 am If your TK flight is international, then they use same terminal. No more seco at the gate, which could be pita, and more time to enjoy the lounge :) According to TAV the alterations should be finished on March 15th. Yesterday when I passed through IST the system was identical to my previous ~15 changes in last year (4 this year alone): - if you have a connecting flight you show the BP and passport to the security guard in front of the "Flight Connections" sign and in 5 seconds you're in the transit/departure area. - if you have a connecting flight TO the US then you need to pass first through the separate interview process; if you do not need visa for Turkey and there is a queue there, you can always enter Turkey via passport control, go out of Arrivals area, take elevator to departure area, go through security and voila, you're in the lounge in less than 5 minutes. You will do the interview process at the gate before departure. - if you do not have a BP for next flight you get one from Transit Desk, just before passport control or "Flight Connections" door. - when finally boarding for your ongoing destination, you clear security at the gate. moeser Mar 6, 12, 12:35 am When did that happen? Sorry.Flights to US,CAN and Israel are exempted.Seco at the gate. The alterations are happening now.It seems they are behind schedule. There are a few pictures on AIRPORTHABER.com. Hence the thread '' IST Back To Open Gate '' from tcm. CAlex Mar 6, 12, 4:49 am I have to see it myself before I believe it. I did not fly IST-LAX directly, for my LAX-IST-OTP connection I have gone through exactly same steps as every-time: - get off LAX-IST plane - go to "Flight Connections" door and show BP and passport - climb stairs to departure area (and go to Lounge :) ) - move to gate 207 for flight IST-OTP - go through security check and BP check - board the plane One can see the building efforts in the airport in areas around passport control, but I have not seen a single worker or building sign at any of the gates. hfly Mar 6, 12, 6:17 am "Interview"?? In my thousands of times in and out of IST I doubt that I have shared more than 500 words with the Police manning the counters. Anyway, as you may have noticed the last few weeks there is a ton of renovation going on, I was told this morning that it will be at least a month until its done, so will definately be beyong March 15. moeser Mar 6, 12, 10:49 pm Anyway, as you may have noticed the last few weeks there is a ton of renovation going on, I was told this morning that it will be at least a month until its done, so will definately be beyong March 15. Well there goes my hope that the seco at the gate is finally history and why am I not surprised  My departure is quite often from the down stair gates 305-309 and there are only 3 x-rays IIRC for all the PAX. It is most of the time completely overcrowded,to clear security takes ages :td: hfly Mar 7, 12, 1:45 am Be careful what you wish for, when it was last "open gate" it was often hellish with huge waits, not just for the few bus gates that you referenced, but all gates. moeser Mar 7, 12, 10:36 pm Be careful what you wish for, when it was last "open gate" it was often hellish with huge waits, not just for the few bus gates that you referenced, but all gates. Sooo very heartening :) I simply hope for the best and expect the worse than. |
